Abby Edwards (b. 1999) is a visual and photographic artist whose work combines 35mm film and digital photography to create immersive, place-based photographic experiences. Rather than being rooted in a particular moment in time, her work seeks to map out the personal geographies of herself and others—tracing the relationship between person and place over generations. Abby’s photographic approach draws heavily from her academic and professional work studying the politicization of memory in post-conflict contexts, particularly her experiences working at Buchenwald Memorial in Weimar, Germany, and studying the memorialization of Choeung Ek (the “killing fields”) outside of Phnom Penh, Cambodia as a fellow with the Center for Khmer Studies.
Her work has been featured by Vogue Italia/PhotoVogue, Washingtonian, and the FIND lab. Select exhibition credits include Homme Gallery, Dupont Underground, and Musée-Hôtel Le Vergeur. Commercial credits include collaborations with Pacers Running, Saucony, Asics, and Brooks.
